Community Gardens & Polytunnel

Set beneath the beautiful Lowther Hills, our community gardens and polytunnel are a space for growing, gathering, and celebrating. Tended by local volunteers, the gardens are full of seasonal fruit, veg, herbs, and flowers — all grown for the community. At the heart is our polytunnel, where anyone can get involved, whether you’re green-fingered or just curious. It’s a peaceful way to connect with nature and meet others. The gardens also make a stunning setting for weddings, workshops, and events – with flowers in bloom and hills all around, it’s a truly special place to come together. Wanlockhead Community Centre is more than just a space — it’s a growing hub for connection, creativity, and community in Scotland’s highest village. Here’s a look at some of our ongoing projects, alongside what we’re planning next.

Got an idea? We want to hear from you. Do you want to run a workshop, have a project in mind, want to get involved, or just fancy a blether? Get in touch with the team.

Community Lunches

Warm, welcoming, and affordable lunches served weekly — open to all. Come for the food, stay for the company.

Genealogy & Family History Course

Led by local experts, this popular course helps people trace their roots and uncover personal history through archives and ancestry tools.

Karaoke & Prize Bingo Nights

Part singing sesh, part prize frenzy — these nights are pure Wanlockhead magic. Whether you're belting out a power ballad or hoping your lucky numbers come up, it's all about fun, laughter, and getting together. No talent required — just bring your best self (and maybe some snacks).

Renewable Energy Feasibility Study

We’re exploring solar panels and energy-efficient upgrades to help the centre become greener, cheaper to run, and more sustainable for the long term.
